In a little over four year's time of coming to Joplin, Onshore has grown and keeps expanding. Onshore chose Joplin due to the positive impact it could have on the community of 400,000 people who live within a 40 mile radius of the city.
The May 2011 EF-5 tornado caused great devastation and wiped out thousands of jobs in Joplin. It is Onshore's goal to bring hope to this community by offering them a hand up.
One such person Onshore has given a hand up in Joplin is Lori Wright. Lori and her husband moved to Joplin two months before the tornado. Lori's husband had been laid off for months before finally finding a job in Joplin. Lori was still looking for work when the tornado hit and destroyed the couple's home and one of their cars. With no home, only one of them working, and now thousands more people competing for jobs the future looked bleak.
Thanks to a job fair where Lori learned about Onshore, she was earning a paycheck less than two months after the tornado.
"It was a miracle to learn of a job opportunity that didn't require prior experience since Onshore would train me to fit the job. Once I was earning a paycheck again, for the first time since the tornado, I felt like I finally had my life back."
This is just one story, but it is Onshore's goal to have thousands more as the company continues to expand across Missouri and the U.S.
